Vin de France Red « Nimalaya » 2023 – Domaine Cassagne et Vitailles
A distinctive cuvée from Domaine Cassagne et Vitailles, Nimalaya 2023 showcases the full nobility of old-vine Carignan in a style that is both pure, intense and remarkably refined. Combining vibrant fruit, Mediterranean freshness and mineral tension, this Languedoc red stands out for its balance and character.
Terroir & Philosophy
Nimalaya is a 100% old-vine Carignan, sourced from historic vineyards located in Montpeyroux and Saint-Saturnin, on clay-limestone soils. South-facing plots ensure optimal ripeness while preserving freshness and fine tannic structure. Harvesting is carried out by hand with meticulous grape selection.
Within the estate, Nimalaya holds a special place: a cuvée conceived as a tribute to terroir, local heritage and long-standing viticultural expertise. It reflects a precise and demanding interpretation of Carignan, revealing both depth and finesse.
The 2023 vintage presents a profile that is both ripe and balanced, true to the spirit of the wine: a precise, lifted and structured red where concentration never becomes heavy. The focus remains on purity of fruit, natural tension and a refined Mediterranean expression.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
The bouquet opens with notes of blackberry, black cherry and ripe red fruits, followed by hints of garrigue, thyme, sage, black olive and subtle spices. The overall impression is both Mediterranean and finely structured.
Palate:
The palate is juicy and structured, supported by fine tannins and a fresh backbone that brings energy and definition. The style emphasizes precision and length rather than overt power, with a refined and vibrant texture.
Finish:
Long, savory and elegant, the finish extends notes of dark fruit, dried herbs and minerality, with a persistent and refined aftertaste that highlights the wine’s natural distinction.
