Terroir

Located in Puéchabon, at the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac appellation, Domaine de Montcalmès benefits from a remarkable high-altitude terroir composed of clay-limestone soils and limestone scree. The vineyards, planted mainly with Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, enjoy a Mediterranean climate moderated by altitude and significant day–night temperature variations, allowing for slow ripening and excellent natural freshness. Viticulture is carried out with great care and respect for the living environment, resulting in wines of outstanding precision and depth.

Tasting Notes

Appearance & Nose:
Deep garnet color with purple highlights. The nose is complex and refined, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), garrigue, licorice, spices, and subtle mineral and smoky notes.

Palate & Finish:
The palate is full-bodied, structured, and beautifully balanced, supported by fine, velvety tannins. The wine is dense yet never heavy, lifted by vibrant freshness and overall elegance. The finish is long, persistent, and harmonious, highlighting the wine’s excellent aging potential and the signature of one of the great estates of the Languedoc.
