Leclerc Briant Extra Brut Premier Cru 2015 — Magnum
This Leclerc Briant Extra Brut Premier Cru, presented here in magnum 1.5 L, comes from the 2015 harvest. It expresses the precise, vinous and elegant style of the house, with pure fruit definition, fine bubbles, saline tension and a true gastronomic dimension.
The magnum format brings slower evolution and better preservation of freshness. It also enhances the wine’s presence at the table, giving greater depth, poise and harmony to this extra-brut Champagne with an energetic yet refined profile.
Terroir: Champagne Premier Cru, freshness and vinous expression
This Premier Cru cuvée reflects the distinctive approach of Leclerc Briant, a house known for Champagnes of character, crafted with precision, purity and low dosage. The extra-brut style highlights the wine’s substance, minerality and natural balance rather than any impression of sweetness.
The 2015 harvest brings a more solar expression, with fine maturity of yellow fruits while retaining a fresh, saline finish. The wine stands out for its vinosity, chalky relief and ability to accompany fine dining with elegance.
Tasting notes
Appearance: light golden yellow, bright and refined, with a fine mousse and regular, elegant effervescence.
Nose: expressive and refined, with yellow fruits, ripe apple, pear, candied citrus, lemon, toasted hazelnut, fine brioche, a touch of honey and a light smoky nuance. With aeration, floral, chalky and saline notes add further complexity.
Palate: fresh, linear and vinous, with fine bubbles, beautiful energy and a precise texture. Yellow fruit brings flesh, while acidity, minerality and the extra-brut dosage maintain a clean, long and saline finish.
94/100 — Falstaff
Falstaff describes the Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut cuvée from Leclerc Briant as a Champagne of fine complexity, marked by toasted hazelnuts, candied lemon, beeswax, ripe yellow fruits and a subtle smoky touch. The palate is described as juicy, fresh, creamy and energetic, with well-integrated bubbles, great elegance and a long, mouthwatering, saline finish.
Expression of the 2015 harvest
The 2015 harvest gives this Champagne a generous and ripe expression, led by yellow fruits, candied citrus and a more vinous rather than purely airy sensation. The low dosage nevertheless preserves tension, purity and a saline finish, making this magnum particularly well suited to gastronomic pairings.
In summary: a Leclerc Briant Extra Brut Premier Cru Champagne in magnum, from the 2015 harvest, precise, vinous and elegant, marked by yellow fruits, citrus, hazelnut, fine bubbles and a saline finish.
Food pairings: langoustines, scallops, lobster, sea bream tartare, fine fish dishes, poultry in cream sauce, mushroom risotto, matured pressed cheeses or refined Japanese cuisine.
