Bulle de Rosé Premier Cru — Frédéric Savart
This Bulle de Rosé Premier Cru from Frédéric Savart expresses the precise, vibrant and deeply appealing style of this highly sought-after grower from the Montagne de Reims. Based in Écueil, a Premier Cru village, Savart produces Champagnes of character, driven by Pinot Noir energy, pure fruit expression and a careful search for balance.
This rosé cuvée combines the flesh of Pinot Noir, the elegance of Chardonnay and a touch of red Pinot Noir wine, bringing colour, texture and aromatic depth. The result is a delicate yet gastronomic rosé Champagne, marked by strawberry, raspberry, citrus, flowers, fine spices and a fresh, dry and lightly saline finish.
Terroir: Écueil Premier Cru and the brilliance of Pinot Noir
The village of Écueil, located on the Montagne de Reims, is historically associated with Pinot Noir. Its chalky and clay-limestone soils produce Champagnes that combine fruit, structure and elegance, with natural tension and a clear aromatic expression.
In Bulle de Rosé, Frédéric Savart does not seek a merely decorative rosé, but a genuine Champagne for the table: precise, savoury, expressive, with measured vinosity and a silky texture. The cuvée remains highly drinkable while offering more depth and relief than a purely fruit-driven rosé.
Tasting notes
Appearance: pale rosé with salmon reflections, bright and delicate, with fine, lively and regular bubbles. The colour remains elegant, favouring finesse rather than extraction.
Nose: fresh, precise and expressive, with wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, pale cherry, citrus zest, white flowers and a lightly spicy touch. With aeration, nuances of pink grapefruit, chalk, fine biscuit, fresh herbs and crisp red fruits may appear.
Palate: lively, pure and elegantly fruity, with fine mousse, bright tension and a very digestible balance. Red fruits mingle with citrus, chalky minerality and a dry, fresh, lightly saline and delicately spicy finish.
93/100 — James Suckling
James Suckling praises a pale, expressive and distinctive rosé Champagne, marked by citrus, red fruits, savoury depth, fine bubbles and a dry, spicy finish. Robert Parker / Wine Advocate also highlights the seriousness of the cuvée, its discreet concentration, the purity of Pinot Noir, its fine palate intensity and its persistence, making it a rosé particularly well suited to the table.
Expression of the cuvée
Bulle de Rosé perfectly reflects Frédéric Savart’s approach: a clear, energetic and precise Champagne, without heaviness or artifice. The red fruit remains bright, the bubbles support the texture without weighing it down, and the finish keeps the chalky tension that invites another glass.
This rosé can be enjoyed as an aperitif, yet it truly comes into its own at the table. Served around 8 to 10°C, it pairs beautifully with iodine-driven cuisine, lightly spiced dishes, delicate poultry or preparations built around red fruits and citrus.
In summary: a Premier Cru rosé Champagne by Frédéric Savart, awarded 93 points by James Suckling, driven by Pinot Noir, strawberry, raspberry, citrus, flowers, fine bubbles, bright tension and a dry, fresh and saline finish.
Food pairings: smoked salmon, red tuna, langoustines, grilled prawns, veal tartare, roast poultry, pink duck breast, Japanese cuisine, ceviche, burrata, heirloom tomatoes, fresh strawberries or a lightly sweet red fruit dessert.
