L’Accomplie Premier Cru Extra Brut — Frédéric Savart, Disg. 2021

This L’Accomplie Premier Cru Extra Brut from Frédéric Savart expresses with great clarity the precise, energetic and highly sought-after style of this grower from Écueil. The cuvée is based mainly on Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay, in a style that is vinous, tense and deeply rooted in Champagne.

The 2021 disgorgement offers a Champagne that is already expressive, yet still driven by fine freshness. Pear, apple, citrus, almond, dried flowers, delicate brioche and chalk shape a profile that is both generous and chiselled. The Extra Brut dosage lets the purity of the fruit, the texture of the wine and the saline finish of a fine terroir-driven Champagne shine through.

Terroir: Écueil, Villers-aux-Nœuds and Premier Cru energy

Frédéric Savart works with a mosaic of small parcels located mainly around Écueil and Villers-aux-Nœuds, on the Montagne de Reims. These Premier Cru terroirs produce Champagnes that are fruity, structured and precise, with a particularly clear expression of Pinot Noir.

In L’Accomplie, the balance lies between vinosity, freshness and texture. Pinot Noir brings flesh, ripe fruit, depth and structure, while Chardonnay refines the whole with tension, floral notes and citrus brightness. Ageing generally combines stainless steel and oak, preserving the wine’s energy while adding greater relief.

Tasting notes

Appearance: bright pale gold, with fine, lively and regular mousse. The whole retains a strong impression of youth, brightness and precision.

Nose: expressive and refined, with pear, yellow apple, lemon, fresh orange, almond, white flowers, light brioche and a chalky touch. With aeration, nuances of hazelnut, discreet honey, fine vanilla, toast and ripe white fruits may appear.

Palate: broad, precise and highly digestible, with delicate mousse, pure fruit and fine mineral tension. The texture remains supple yet well structured, carried by citrus, apple, pear, almond and a dry, saline and lightly spicy finish.

Expert review

93/100 — Robert Parker / Wine Advocate

Robert Parker / Wine Advocate awarded 93/100 to a recent release of L’Accomplie, based on the 2019 vintage with reserve wines from 2018. The tasting note highlights pear, toasted almond, dried flowers, light honey and vanilla, as well as a precise, supple and fruit-driven palate, supported by a chalky structure and a mouth-watering finish.

Expression of the 2021 disgorgement

The 2021 disgorgement now offers a fine balance between freshness, vinosity and early complexity. The wine has gained harmony since release, while retaining the energy that defines Frédéric Savart’s Champagnes. It can be enjoyed now, yet still has enough tension to evolve further over the next few years.

Served around 8 to 10°C, this Champagne reveals its most precise character: pure fruit, fine bubbles, a chalky touch and a dry finish. It is equally suited to an aperitif or a refined meal, especially with iodine-driven products, delicate poultry or lightly creamy preparations.

In summary: a Premier Cru Extra Brut Champagne by Frédéric Savart, disgorged in 2021, awarded 93 points by Robert Parker / Wine Advocate for a close release, marked by pear, apple, citrus, almond, fine brioche, chalk and a highly precise saline finish.

Food pairings: oysters, langoustines, grilled prawns, sea bream tartare, ceviche, scallops, cream-based poultry dishes, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, mature Parmesan or gastronomic cuisine with iodine-driven, chalky and lightly toasted notes.
