Château Meyney 2000
A mature Saint-Estèphe: Médoc structure, depth and classic charm
Terroir
Château Meyney is one of the historic estates of Saint-Estèphe. Its vineyard, set on gravel ridges overlooking the Gironde estuary, rests on soils combining gravel, clay and cooler subsoil, producing structured, deep wines with excellent ageing potential.
The 2000 vintage, highly sought after in Bordeaux, now offers a mature and harmonious expression of Château Meyney. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure, precision and length, while Merlot softens the texture and Petit Verdot adds colour, intensity and spice. This is a classic, serious Saint-Estèphe, already beautifully shaped by time.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal notes of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum, cedar, tobacco, fine leather, graphite and spice. Bottle age brings nuances of undergrowth and damp earth, typical of mature Bordeaux wines.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is structured, supple and balanced, with tannins now softened and substance still present. The finish lingers on evolved dark fruit, cedar, spice and an earthy touch, offering the classic charm of a mature Saint-Estèphe.
