A classic expression of Barolo, Le Vigne 2017 blends multiple great Nebbiolo terroirs to create a wine that is both deep, structured and harmonious, combining aromatic intensity, freshness and excellent aging potential.

Terroir & parcels

Le Vigne reflects Luciano Sandrone’s interpretation of the traditional multi-vineyard Barolo. The wine is sourced from several prestigious sites across the appellation, including Baudana in Serralunga d’Alba, Villero in Castiglione Falletto, Vignane in Barolo and Merli in Novello. This combination of vineyards captures the full diversity of Barolo, balancing finesse, depth, structure and complexity.

Each vineyard contributes its own character: some soils are lighter and sandy, while others are denser and more compact, with varying altitudes and exposures. Each parcel is vinified separately before blending, preserving the identity of each terroir and enhancing the wine’s complexity.

The 2017 vintage, marked by hot and dry conditions, produced a Barolo of strong character, more powerful than some vintages, yet balanced by cool nights that preserved freshness and precision. Aging in 500-liter French oak casks, followed by extended bottle maturation, reinforces structure and aging potential.

Tasting notes

Nose:
Complex and expressive, with aromas of macerated cherry, raspberry and ripe red fruits, complemented by notes of mint, balsamic herbs, spices, licorice and a subtle smoky or graphite nuance.

Palate:
Focused, structured and energetic, with a serious yet balanced core. Precise red fruit is layered with hints of pepper, coffee, cola and sweet spices. The tannins are fine yet firm, giving the wine a classic architecture and strong aging capacity.

Finish:
Long, tense and persistent, marked by fresh acidity, pure fruit and a mineral graphite-like imprint. A harmonious and promising Barolo, still youthful, with the potential to gain depth and complexity over time.
