Mondeuse Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte 2021 – Domaine de Chevillard
The benchmark terroir for Mondeuse: intensity, structure, and outstanding ageing potential
Terroir
Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte is widely regarded as the reference terroir for Mondeuse in Savoie. This historic area of the Combe de Savoie allows the grape variety to fully express its depth and intensity. The 2021 vintage highlights this identity with a wine that is both concentrated and structured, showing remarkable aromatic precision and a natural capacity for ageing.
Tasting Notes
Colour & Nose:
A deep violet-black colour. The aromatic bouquet reveals intense notes of liquorice, blackcurrant, and violet, complemented by touches of cocoa, highlighting Mondeuse’s natural kinship with Syrah.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is both structured and juicy, marked by firm yet refined tannins. The balance between intensity, freshness, and substance gives the wine excellent length and an ageing potential of at least a decade. A Mondeuse of character—deep, authentic, and true to its origin.
