Roussette de Savoie Blanc 2020 – Domaine de Chevillard
A chiselled alpine white: taut structure, luminous freshness and deep mineral definition
Terroir
The 2020 Roussette de Savoie is sourced from the steep, cool slopes of the Combe de Savoie, entirely planted to Altesse. The soils blend limestone marl, calcareous scree and ancient glacial sediments, providing excellent drainage and natural tension. With vines rooted between 350 and 600 metres of altitude, the vintage benefits from strong diurnal shifts and persistent alpine currents. These conditions yield a wine of pronounced freshness, tight structure and crystalline minerality, a particularly pure reflection of this terroir in a cooler, more focused year.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
The 2020 vintage displays an elegant and more restrained aromatic profile, opening with scents of green pear, white peach skin and subtle alpine herbs. Notes of citrus peel and finely crushed stone complement this cool-climate signature.
Palate & Finish:
Sharper and more energetic than warmer years, the palate is driven by a precise mineral backbone and a lively, almost electric acidity. The mouthfeel remains slender yet textural, unfolding gradually toward a finish that is clean, tensile and persistently saline. A beautifully defined, high-altitude expression of Altesse, capturing all the finesse and purity of the 2020 season.
