Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Clos des Argillières” 2018 – Dureuil-Janthial
A refined and expressive Premier Cru, showcasing the depth and elegance of Nuits-Saint-Georges
Terroir
Clos des Argillières is a Premier Cru located in the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, within the commune of Prémeaux-Prissey. The estate owns a small 0.39-hectare parcel in this rare climat, which totals just over four hectares. The vineyard takes its name from its distinctive soil, composed of pink Prémeaux marble, covered by a thick layer of clay and scattered with surface gravel. Planted in 1942, the east-facing Pinot Noir vines have been organically farmed for several years, allowing for a pure and authentic expression of terroir.
Tasting Notes
Vinification & Aging:
The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted twice before being destemmed and fermented in truncated wooden vats. Fermentation begins only after one week of cold pre-fermentation maceration, with punch-downs and pump-overs carried out as needed following regular tastings. Aging continues for 12 months in oak barrels (including 50% new oak), followed by 6 additional months in stainless steel tanks, before bottling in accordance with the lunar calendar.
Palate & Finish:
The nose is remarkably pure, revealing aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and bramble, subtly enhanced by a touch of refined oak. The palate is supple and ripe, structured by silky, well-integrated tannins. The finish is balanced and persistent, offering a beautiful and faithful expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges, combining depth, harmony, and excellent aging potential.
