Hospices de Nuits Les Didiers Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 2010 — Hubert Lignier
This Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers 2010 from the Hospices de Nuits, raised by Hubert Lignier, combines the historic prestige of the charitable estate of Nuits-Saint-Georges with the precision of a great winemaker from Morey-Saint-Denis. From the monopole climat Les Didiers, it expresses a deep, straight and distinguished Pinot Noir: black cherry, Morello cherry, raspberry, cassis, plum, violet, fine spices, liquorice, noble earth, graphite, fine leather, forest floor and a long mineral finish.
The Hospices de Nuits owns several emblematic cuvées, including Les Didiers, one of the institution’s most renowned climats. The 2010 vintage, fresher, more precise and more taut than 2009 or 2015, gives here a wine of balance, finesse and structure, with pure fruit, fine acidity and a marked mineral expression. Hubert Lignier’s élevage brings a classical, deep and patient reading of the terroir, favouring texture, purity and ageing capacity.
A Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru of great stature, more taut, more mineral and more classical than solar. The 2010 combines black cherry, raspberry, cassis, violet, spices, liquorice, fine earth and graphite, with a straight, fresh, structured and persistent palate. Hubert Lignier’s élevage reinforces the impression of seriousness, precision and longevity in this cuvée from a great Hospices de Nuits terroir.
Terroir: Les Didiers, a historic monopole of the Hospices de Nuits
The Les Didiers climat is one of the great Premier Crus of Nuits-Saint-Georges and is a monopole of the Hospices de Nuits. Located in the southern part of the appellation, it gives wines of structure, depth and long ageing potential, marked by an earthier, firmer and more mineral expression than the crus closest to Vosne-Romanée. It is a terroir of density, straightness and character.
The clay-limestone soils of Nuits-Saint-Georges bring Pinot Noir a solid tannic frame, mineral energy and great aromatic depth. In Les Didiers, the fruit often shows dark and dense, accompanied by notes of earth, spice, liquorice and graphite. In 2010, the freshness of the vintage accentuates precision, tension and terroir clarity, while preserving fine fruit depth.
Terroir expression: Pinot Noir, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Didiers, Hospices de Nuits monopole, black cherry, Morello cherry, cassis, violet, spices, noble earth, graphite and mineral freshness.

Expression of the 2010 vintage
The 2010 vintage in Burgundy produced red wines that are precise, fresh, balanced and highly prized for their aromatic purity. In Nuits-Saint-Georges, this freshness combines with the natural power of the terroirs to produce straight, deep wines capable of long ageing. In Les Didiers, the 2010 stands out for its tension, minerality, clean red and black fruit, and structure that remains clearly present.
Today, this Hospices de Nuits Les Didiers 2010 raised by Hubert Lignier is entering an interesting phase, between structured youth and the beginning of tertiary complexity. It can already be expressive after measured aeration, but will gain further nuance with time: forest floor, truffle, fine leather, melted spices, black tea, noble earth, graphite and mineral notes should gradually join the purity of the fruit.
In summary: a deep, fresh and structured Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers 2010, from the Hospices de Nuits monopole and raised by Hubert Lignier with precision, straightness and a clear sense of ageing potential.
Dominant aromas: black cherry, Morello cherry, raspberry, cassis, plum, dark red fruits, violet, fine spices, liquorice, noble earth, graphite, fine leather, forest floor and a long mineral finish.
