Weingut Möhr-Niggli — Maienfeld and the excellence of Graubünden Pinot Noir
Located in Maienfeld, at the heart of the Bündner Herrschaft (AOC Graubünden), Weingut Möhr-Niggli is one of the reference estates of Swiss viticulture. Run by Sina & Matthias Gubler-Möhr, the domaine is renowned for its precise, vibrant wines, with a strong focus on Pinot Noir.
Terroir & grape varieties
The vineyard (approx. 4 hectares) lies on the slopes above Maienfeld, in an Alpine-influenced setting where altitude and wide day–night temperature swings promote slow ripening and aromatic clarity. The soils, often limestone-rich and stony, contribute to fine structure and a natural sense of freshness.
- Pinot Noir — the flagship grape, prized for finesse, tension and depth.
- Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc — elegant, energetic whites with clear structure.
- Small plantings of other varieties, depending on the cuvée.
Signature wines
MAGNUS — Pinot Noir (Magnum only)
The estate’s flagship cuvée, sourced from a top single site above Maienfeld. A serious, age-worthy Pinot Noir combining pure red fruit, silky texture, tension and depth, with a long, precise finish.
Pinot Noir — single-vineyard selections
Parcellaire bottlings highlighting the identity of individual sites and the classic “Herrschaft” style: balance, drinkability, aromatic precision and fine tannins.
Estate whites
Elegant and structured white wines (notably Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc), crafted to preserve brightness, freshness and a discreet mineral backbone.
Winemaking philosophy
The cellar work is driven by a search for purity and precision: gentle extractions, careful ageing and a strong emphasis on preserving the natural freshness of the fruit. Power is secondary to clarity, texture and site expression.
Sustainability & commitment
The estate follows a responsible and structured approach to viticulture, focusing on sustainable practices and continuous improvement. The goal is to produce wines that are honest, consistent and deeply connected to their origin.
