Château Climens – Premier Cru Classé de Barsac: Purity and Elegance of Sémillon
A true benchmark among the great sweet wines of Bordeaux, Château Climens, known as the Seigneur de Barsac, is a legendary estate classified Premier Cru in 1855. Located in the heart of the Barsac appellation, this historic property produces wines of exceptional finesse, crafted exclusively from 100% Sémillon, the noble grape variety behind the most refined sweet wines of Sauternes.
A unique biodynamic terroir
The 27-hectare single vineyard is entirely planted with Sémillon on a rare combination of sandy clay soils and fissured limestone with asteria, a distinctive geological feature of Barsac. Since 2010, Château Climens has been farmed entirely in biodynamics, officially certified in 2014. This respectful approach preserves the purity and energy of the terroir, giving the wines their singular vibrancy and precision.

Winemaking
Every step, from vineyard to cellar, is carried out with respect for the natural balance of the wine. Fermentations are slow and spontaneous, with no added yeasts. The wines are then aged in carefully selected French oak barrels, enhancing aromatic complexity without overshadowing the purity of the terroir.
Signature cuvées
Château Climens – Premier Cru Classé
The estate’s flagship wine is renowned for its aromatic complexity—candied orange peel, exotic fruits, acacia honey, and white flowers—and its remarkable ageing potential. Over time, each vintage gains in purity, energy, and elegance.
Cyprès de Climens
The second wine of the estate, more approachable in its youth, offers vibrant tension, aromas of apricot and honeysuckle, and a graceful, airy finish. A perfect introduction to the Climens style.
Asphodèle – Dry White
A confidential cuvée launched in 2018: a pure Sémillon dry white with crystalline minerality, no oak, and a linear, floral expression.
Lilium – Rare Micro-Cuvée
The most delicate expression of the Climens terroir: a rare, elegant wine with silky texture and subtle notes of white flowers and peach kernel.
