Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent — The quiet precision of Santenay

Based in Santenay, at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent has become one of Burgundy’s most discreet yet respected estates. In an appellation long underestimated, Jean-Marc and Anne-Marie Vincent reveal the depth, finesse and tension that Santenay can offer when farmed and vinified with true when farmed and vinified with true precision.

The domaine works on a small scale, with old vines, low yields and meticulous attention to detail. Its reds are refined, floral and finely structured, while the whites show remarkable salinity, verticality and depth, placing the estate among the most compelling producers of the southern Côte de Beaune.

The spirit of the domaine

Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent embodies a Burgundy of discretion, precision and depth. The wines are never forced: they are built on careful farming, ripe but measured fruit, finely handled extraction and long, patient ageing. The result is a range of Santenay wines with rare purity, elegant structure and a strong sense of place.

Terroir and vineyard work

The domaine covers around 6 hectares, mainly in Santenay, with additional parcels in Auxey-Duresses. Some vines are very old, with certain parcels over 70 years old, bringing concentration, intensity and natural depth to the wines.

Vineyard work is carried out with great care, in a spirit close to biodynamics, though not presented as a certified system. The soils are regularly ploughed, herbicides are avoided, yields are kept low, and harvesting is carried out by hand in small crates, with rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and at the cellar.

Expression of place: Santenay, Auxey-Duresses, old vines, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, limestone soils, floral lift, red fruit, white fruit, salinity, fine tannins and mineral tension.

Jean-Marc Vincent signature: precise, refined and deeply expressive Burgundy wines, combining crystalline fruit, elegant structure and impressive length.

Vinification and ageing

The red wines are generally fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Extraction is gentle, aiming to preserve finesse, floral detail and silky tannins rather than weight or excessive structure. Ageing can be long, with the proportion of new oak adjusted according to the cuvée and vintage.

For the whites, pressing is slow and precise, followed by fermentation and ageing in oak on fine lees. Bâtonnage remains limited in order to preserve energy, salinity and aromatic clarity. The best white cuvées combine breadth, mineral tension and a refined Côte de Beaune profile.

Wine style

The reds of Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent are elegant, floral and finely chiselled. They express red cherry, raspberry, violet, delicate spice, fresh earth and subtle oak, with polished tannins and long, graceful finishes.

The whites are saline, vertical and precise, with aromas of citrus, white peach, pear, fresh almond, chalk and fine reduction. Their balance between texture and tension gives them the presence of serious Côte de Beaune whites, while retaining the discreet personality of Santenay.

Iconic cuvées

Santenay Premier Cru Beaurepaire Blanc is one of the domaine’s most admired white wines, combining salinity, tension and impressive length.

Santenay Premier Cru Les Gravières Rouge expresses the finer side of Santenay Pinot Noir, with floral aromatics, polished tannins and a long, elegant finish.

Auxey-Duresses Les Hautés Blanc offers a crystalline and energetic expression of Chardonnay, marked by purity, freshness and mineral drive.

Santenay Les Potets and Bourgogne Côte d’Or Blanc complete the range with accessible yet precise wines, showing the domaine’s commitment to purity at every level.

Ageing and gastronomic pairings

The wines of Domaine Jean-Marc Vincent age beautifully thanks to their balance, low yields and precise structure. The reds can evolve for 6 to 15 years, while the finest whites can gain complexity over a similar or longer period, depending on the vintage and cuvée.

The reds pair well with roast poultry, veal, duck, mushroom dishes, fine charcuterie and soft cheeses. The whites are ideal with noble fish, scallops, poultry in cream sauce, risotto, Comté, fresh goat cheese and refined dishes built around butter, citrus or herbs.
