Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair – Tradition and Precision in the Côte de Nuits
Nuits-Saint-Georges & Vosne-Romanée • Côte de Nuits • Burgundy — Pinot Noir farmed biodynamically (certified on part of the estate)
Origins & Philosophy
Descended from a long-established Vosne-Romanée family and based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate follows a biodynamic approach with low yields and a constant focus on purity. The goal is to express the precision of each terroir while preserving energy and finesse.
Vineyard & Growing Practices
- Soil cultivation with no herbicides, encouraging biodiversity.
- Hand harvesting with strict sorting in the vineyard and cellar.
- Grapes picked at optimal ripeness to retain freshness, tension, and aromatic precision.
Vinification & Aging
- Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, long but gentle macerations (delicate pigeage/infusion).
- Aging in French oak barrels with moderate new wood, adapted to each cru and vintage.
- Focus on balance: clarity of terroir, silky texture, and saline length.
House Style
- Pure, precise fruit with fine tannins and controlled freshness.
- Complex aromas (red and black fruits, delicate spices) with excellent aging potential.
