Domaine de la Mordorée — Between wild nature & stylistic ambition
Founded in 1986 by Christophe Delorme, Domaine de la Mordorée has become one of the most exacting and admired references in the Southern Rhône Valley. Based in Tavel on the right bank of the Rhône, the estate is now stewarded by Madeleine Delorme and her daughter Ambre, who uphold a deeply committed vision: biodynamics, precision in winemaking, and an unfiltered expression of terroir.
A vast and carefully tended vineyard
- 60 hectares across 8 appellations: Tavel, Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône, and IGP/Vin de France.
- Some parcels over 60 years old, on soils of rolled pebbles, sand, limestone, and clay.
- Organic conversion started in 2013, certified Demeter biodynamic in 2020.
The natural approach is uncompromising, aiming for fruit purity, aromatic precision, and an authentic voice of nature through the wine.
Precise & parcel-based winemaking
- Hand harvesting, with rigorous sorting.
- Partial destemming depending on the cuvée.
- Gravity-fed fermentations in stainless steel or wooden tanks.
- Indigenous yeasts, moderate sulfur use.
- Aging in tanks, large oak vats, or barrels, tailored to each parcel.
A discreet winemaking style, favoring balance, definition, and length.
A style combining intensity and refinement
- Red wines — dense, silky, vibrant: Southern power meets refined extraction.
- Tavel rosés — gastronomic, structured, spicy & floral: true expressions of terroir.
- White wines — fresh tension, pure aromatics (white fruits, flowers), with a salivating finish.
Key cuvées
- Châteauneuf-du-Pape — La Reine des Bois — parcel selection dominated by Grenache: depth, nobility, exceptional aging potential.
- Lirac — La Reine des Bois — ample, elegant, structured: a benchmark Lirac, ideal for cellaring.
- Tavel — La Reine des Bois — iconic rosé, intense and gastronomic: texture, spices, vibrant freshness.
- Côtes-du-Rhône — La Dame Rousse — generous and serious, the estate’s signature in an accessible version.
- La Reine des Bois Blanc — floral, mineral blend of finesse, from the finest terroirs of the Southern Rhône.
