Domaine Camus Père et Fils – Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Crus & Classical Pinot Noir

Historic Chambertin grands crus and traditional Côte de Nuits craftsmanship

Heritage & family estate

Founded in 1832 in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Camus Père et Fils is one of the historic family estates of the Côte de Nuits. Over generations, the family has built a deep understanding of the Chambertin grands crus, shaping a style that remains faithful to Burgundy’s classical tradition. Today, the domaine is sought after by connoisseurs for its refined, terroir-driven Pinot Noirs.

Terroir & vineyards

The estate covers around 18 hectares and is among the significant owners of Gevrey-Chambertin grands crus. A large share of the holdings lies on some of the village’s most renowned climats, including Chambertin Grand Cru, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru and other parcels within the Chambertin constellation. The vineyards are rooted in classic clay-limestone soils on well-exposed slopes, with a high proportion of old-vine Pinot Noir, giving the wines depth, structure and a tightly knit mineral backbone typical of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Philosophy & winemaking style

The domaine follows a traditional, terroir-respectful approach. Hand-harvesting and careful sorting are the rule, with vinifications carried out in a classic Burgundian spirit to preserve the identity of each climat. Fermentations are closely monitored, extractions remain measured, and the wines are aged for around 14–18 months in French oak barrels. The aim is to craft authentic, age-worthy Pinot Noirs with depth, precision and a clear sense of place.

Wine style

Wines from Domaine Camus Père et Fils show a decidedly classical Côte de Nuits profile. Expect dark berry fruit, subtle spice, hints of forest floor and a distinctive mineral line. The tannins are generally firm yet polished, supported by balanced acidity, making these bottles ideal for cellaring while remaining approachable after a few years of ageing.

Key cuvées

  • Chambertin Grand Cru – Powerful, structured wine with ripe dark fruit, spice and complex, savoury depth. Outstanding ageing potential.
  • Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru – More seductive and velvety, showing cherry, violet and a refined, mineral-driven finish.
  • Other Gevrey-Chambertin grands crus – Additional holdings within the Chambertin family of climats, offering nuances from taut, mineral expressions to more generous, fleshy styles.
  • Gevrey-Chambertin (village and introductory cuvées) – Expressive, fruit-driven Pinot Noirs that provide a perfect introduction to the domaine’s classical style.
