History & Philosophy
Domaine Delaporte is based in Chavignol, one of the most prestigious villages in Sancerre, also famous for Crottin de Chavignol cheese. A multi-generational family estate, it is currently led by Mathieu Delaporte, who significantly modernized the domaine beginning in the 2010s.
The estate focuses on a precise, parcel-driven interpretation of Sancerre terroirs. The philosophy centers on producing wines that are pure, elegant, and site-expressive, highlighting minerality and clarity rather than overt aromatic intensity.
Terroir & Vineyards
The domaine covers approximately 33 hectares, spread across some of Sancerre’s finest hillside sites, particularly around Chavignol.
Sancerre’s three key soil types are well represented:
Silex (flint) – providing tension, energy, and smoky mineral notes
Terres blanches (Kimmeridgian marl) – offering structure and depth
Caillottes (limestone) – contributing finesse and aromatic lift
This geological diversity allows for highly distinctive single-vineyard expressions.
Viticulture
Careful parcel-by-parcel vineyard management
