Domaine de la Coulée de Serrant – Famille Joly | Iconic Biodynamic White Wines from Savennières
The Domaine de la Coulée de Serrant, exclusively owned by the Joly family, is a legendary name in the Loire Valley. Located on the slopes of Savennières Roche-aux-Moines, this exceptional 7-hectare vineyard constitutes an appellation in its own right, renowned for its intense aromatic expression and remarkable aging potential.
A historic and exceptional terroir
Founded in 1130 by Cistercian monks, the vineyard benefits from a unique terroir: steep south-southeast-facing slopes, schist and quartz soils, and biodynamic farming since 1984 under the leadership of Nicolas Joly, a true pioneer of this philosophy.
Rare and sought-after wines
The estate produces three 100% Chenin Blanc cuvées, considered among the most prestigious in the Loire Valley:
Coulée de Serrant (AOC Coulée de Serrant) — a profound, complex wine with outstanding cellaring potential.
Clos de la Bergerie (AOC Savennières Roche-aux-Moines) — generous and well-balanced with marked minerality.
Les Vieux Clos (AOC Savennières) — elegant, vibrant and approachable in its youth.
The wines are distinguished by their textural depth, pronounced minerality, and complex aromas of quince, honey, yellow fruits and delicate spice, evolving beautifully over decades.
