Domaine Gallety — a benchmark for fine southern Rhône-style reds

Founded in the 1970s in Saint-Montan, at the heart of the Coteaux de l’Ardèche, Domaine Gallety is a family-run estate that has become a major reference for great southern French red wines produced outside traditional AOC classifications. Today, under the direction of David Gallety, following in the footsteps of his father Alain Gallety, the domaine has earned a rare level of respect among sommeliers and international critics for its precision and unwavering standards.

Classified as IGP Coteaux de l’Ardèche, the estate is renowned for its Syrah and Grenache of exceptional purity — crafted without artifice and with absolute respect for the terroir. Gallety stands at the crossroads of Rhône and Burgundian influences, asserting a perfectly mastered Mediterranean signature.

Philosophy & Vineyard

Domaine Gallety farms its vines using certified organic agriculture on south-facing clay-limestone soils between 150 and 300 meters above sea level. A precise parcel-by-parcel approach, respect for living soils, and a quest for natural balance are at the core of the estate’s philosophy.

  • Hand harvesting with rigorous sorting,
  • Native yeast fermentations,
  • Long ageing in fine-grain barrels for slow, harmonious evolution,
  • No over-extraction or excessive oak influence.

This artisanal approach yields wines that are both powerful, elegant, and deeply rooted in their origin.

Signature Wines

  • Gallety Rouge — A Syrah-Grenache blend aged 18 months in barrel. The estate’s signature cuvée, combining structure, elegance and freshness.
  • Syrare — 100% Syrah, a top cuvée of density and tension, produced in very limited quantities, often bottled in magnum.
  • Blanc de Gallety — A rare white wine made from Viognier, Roussanne or Chardonnay depending on the vintage, with delicate and expressive texture.

Wine Style

Domaine Gallety’s reds stand out for their unique balance of power and tension, fine-grained tannins and a spiced, mineral aromatic profile — without heaviness or over-ripeness. Their ageing potential is outstanding, particularly in large formats.

The style evokes the great wines of the northern Rhône — pure and focused Syrah — while preserving an elegant Mediterranean identity, carried by the perfectly ripe Grenache.
