Vougeot Le Clos du Prieuré Rouge Monopole 2021 — Domaine de la Vougeraie
The Vougeot Le Clos du Prieuré Rouge Monopole 2021 from Domaine de la Vougeraie is an elegant and highly distinctive expression of the Vougeot appellation. Produced from a monopole vineyard in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, this Pinot Noir showcases the precision, finesse and natural elegance that define one of Burgundy's most respected terroirs.
The 2021 vintage, shaped by a cooler and more classical growing season, favours purity of fruit, freshness and definition over sheer richness. The wine reveals layers of red cherry, wild strawberry, delicate floral notes, sandalwood, gentle spice and a refined mineral backbone that carries through to a long, poised finish.
Clos du Prieuré, a unique monopole in Vougeot
Clos du Prieuré is a monopole vineyard entirely owned by Domaine de la Vougeraie within the Vougeot appellation. The red parcel covers approximately one hectare, enclosed by historic stone walls and planted on limestone-rich soils mixed with rounded pebbles near the banks of the Vouge River. The vines range from the early twentieth century to plantings from the 1980s.
Made exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir, the wine reflects the estate's long-standing commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Rather than seeking power, Domaine de la Vougeraie focuses on precision, balance and transparency, allowing this discreet yet remarkably refined terroir to express itself with elegance and authenticity.

The 2021 vintage & serving recommendations
Across Burgundy, the 2021 vintage produced wines of freshness, precision and classical balance. In Clos du Prieuré, these conditions emphasise purity of fruit, vibrant acidity and a remarkably transparent expression of terroir, while offering excellent ageing potential.
Although approachable after a few years in bottle, this Vougeot will continue to develop additional complexity with cellaring. Serve at around 15–16°C (59–61°F) in large Burgundy glasses. Gentle aeration is recommended, while extended decanting is unnecessary.
