Solaia 1999 – Marchesi Antinori, double magnum
An iconic Tuscan wine in large format: depth, elegance and Cabernet nobility
Terroir
Solaia is one of Marchesi Antinori’s most prestigious cuvées and one of the historic names among the great Super Tuscans. Produced from the Tignanello estate, in the heart of Chianti Classico, it comes from particularly well-exposed parcels on soils rich in limestone and galestro, bringing ripeness, structure and aromatic finesse.
The 1999 vintage now offers a mature and harmonious expression of Solaia, combining the depth of Cabernet Sauvignon, the elegance of Sangiovese and the complexity of Cabernet Franc. Presented in double magnum, this bottle benefits from a rare and highly sought-after format, particularly well suited to preserving balance and supporting slow evolution over time.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal deep notes of ripe blackcurrant, black cherry, plum, blond tobacco, cedar, fine leather, cocoa and gentle spices. With age, nuances of undergrowth, graphite and balsamic depth emerge, in a style that is both noble and Mediterranean.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is broad, structured and refined, carried by patinated tannins, deep substance and lovely freshness. The finish lingers on evolved dark fruit, tobacco, spice, graphite and an elegant balsamic touch, offering a mature, refined and harmonious expression of this great Tuscan cuvée.
