Château Figeac 2002
A classic Saint-Émilion: freshness, Cabernet nobility and Figeac elegance
Terroir
Château Figeac holds a distinctive position in Saint-Émilion thanks to its deep gravel soils, a rare feature on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. This particular terroir allows for a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in the blend, bringing structure, freshness and elegance that set Figeac apart from more Merlot-dominated profiles.
The 2002 vintage offers a classic, fresh and now mature expression of Château Figeac. In a more measured year than the great solar vintages, the wine favours finesse, precision and balance. It is aimed at lovers of evolved Bordeaux who appreciate Figeac’s refined signature and the aromatic nobility of Cabernet varieties on the Right Bank.
Tasting notes
Nose:
The bouquet may reveal notes of evolved blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar, blond tobacco, graphite, undergrowth and gentle spices. The whole expression is fine, restrained and marked by a Médoc-like elegance unusual for Saint-Émilion.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is straight, supple and balanced, with softened tannins, lingering freshness and a texture now shaped by time. The finish extends over cedar, graphite, evolved dark fruit and a spicy touch, offering a mature and classic expression of Château Figeac.
