Château Figeac 2016 – Saint-Émilion
A legendary Saint-Émilion: elegance, freshness, and aristocratic depth
Terroir
Château Figeac stands apart in Saint-Émilion thanks to its exceptional terroir of deep Günzian gravel soils, similar to those found in the Médoc. This rare soil profile, combined with a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, gives the wine its signature freshness, precision, and ageing potential. The 2016 vintage, widely regarded as one of the greatest of the decade in Bordeaux, offered ideal climatic conditions, producing a wine of remarkable balance, purity, and refinement.
Tasting Notes
Nose:
Highly refined aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, and raspberry, lifted by notes of violet, graphite, fresh herbs, and subtle hints of cedar and spice.
Palate & Finish:
The palate is silky, precise, and beautifully structured, with ultra-fine tannins and a striking sense of freshness. The wine unfolds gradually, combining depth, energy, and elegance without heaviness. The long, seamless finish lingers on dark fruit, floral notes, and a distinctive mineral signature. A truly great Bordeaux, built for long-term ageing and quiet sophistication.
