Ao Yun 2014 – Yunnan Himalaya
Ao Yun is one of LVMH’s most ambitious wine projects: the creation of a world-class red wine in an extraordinary, remote location at the foothills of the Himalayas, in the mountainous province of Yunnan. The 2014 vintage — the inaugural release — marks a defining moment. Grown at 2,200 to 2,600 meters above sea level, the vineyards benefit from bright days and cool nights, allowing a slow, even, and perfectly controlled ripening.
Tasting Notes
Colour: deep, dark, intensely concentrated.
Nose: very pure, combining cassis, blackberry, incense, liquorice, and black tea, with warm mineral notes reminiscent of sun-heated stone. The élevage adds remarkable finesse and precision.
Palate: dense yet silky texture; tightly woven, polished tannins; beautifully integrated freshness brought by the high-altitude climate.
Finish: long, straight, persistent, with notes of cocoa, Sichuan pepper, and a deep mineral signature.
