Prieuré Saint-Jean de Bébian – La Côte 2022

A refined Languedoc red combining Mediterranean depth, mineral freshness, and elegant texture, sourced from limestone hillside vineyards near Pézenas.

Terroir & Parcels

The La Côte cuvée comes from hillside parcels surrounding Prieuré Saint-Jean de Bébian, near Pézenas, rooted in complex soils of lacustrine limestone, marl, and rounded pebbles. These well-drained terroirs, shaped by Mediterranean sunshine and cooling winds, allow full ripening while preserving freshness and balance. Active limestone contributes a firm structure, mineral tension, and a subtle saline persistence.

Bottled as Vin de France, the blend typically features Mediterranean varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and sometimes Carignan, depending on the vintage. Farmed with an organic approach and harvested by hand, the grapes undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction, and aging in large vats or older barrels to preserve fruit purity and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Complex and elegant, offering blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with notes of garrigue, black pepper, black olive, and a subtle smoky nuance.

Palate:
Broad and structured, with fine tannins and a fresh backbone balancing Mediterranean richness. Flavors of ripe dark fruits mingle with sweet spices, licorice, and a mineral note that adds precision and length.

Finish:
Long and harmonious, marked by spice, a saline touch, and an elegant persistence on garrigue and dark fruit. A gastronomic wine capable of evolving gracefully over several years.
