Meursault Les Tessons 2018 — Domaine Pierre Morey
This Meursault Les Tessons 2018 from Domaine Pierre Morey embodies a broad, elegant and deeply Burgundian expression of Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune. Sourced from one of Meursault’s most admired lieux-dits, it combines the natural richness of the appellation, the limestone finesse of the terroir and the precise, understated and refined signature of the domaine.
Terroir: Les Tessons, depth and finesse in Meursault
Les Tessons is one of Meursault’s most highly regarded lieux-dits, with a depth and presence that often place it among the appellation’s most admired village climats. Its limestone and stony soils give Chardonnay wines that are ample, precise and persistent.
The 2018 vintage brings generous substance, ripe fruit and an enveloping texture, while preserving fine freshness. At Pierre Morey, this richness remains framed by a pure reading of the terroir, chalky tension and beautifully integrated élevage.
Tasting notes
Appearance: pale gold with brilliant reflections, luminous and already lightly golden, with fine visual density.
Nose: elegant and expressive, with lemon oil, green pear, yellow apple, white flowers, blanched almond, fine hazelnut, honeycomb, warm stone and a subtle smoky note.
Palate: ample, textured and lively, with generous substance supported by fine acidity and chalky extract. The finish is long, saline and harmonious, with beautiful persistence on white fruit, almond, chalk and gentle spices.
91–93/100 — Wine Advocate / Parker
William Kelley, in February 2020, describes this Meursault Les Tessons 2018 as a wine showing notes of lemon oil, green pear, white flowers, blanched almond and honeycomb. His review highlights a palate that is textured yet lively, harmonious, carried by fine acidity and chalky extract.
In summary: an ample, satin-textured and elegant Meursault Les Tessons 2018, shaped by the generosity of the vintage, the depth of the lieu-dit, the precision of Domaine Pierre Morey and strong critical recognition.
Food pairings: creamy poultry, sole meunière, scallops, lobster, mushroom risotto, aged Comté, Burgundy cheeses or refined seafood cuisine.
