Château de la Tour is one of the historic and emblematic estates of Clos de Vougeot, renowned for wines of great personality, depth and longevity. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée is distinguished by denser substance, more assertive structure and a more complex expression of terroir. The 2017 vintage, elegant, fresh and precise in Burgundy, brings here a refined reading of the Clos, with fine fruit purity, delicate tannins and harmonious evolution. The magnum format encourages slower maturation and greater preservation of freshness.

The wine combines red and black fruits, faded flowers, fine spices, liquorice, black tea, noble earth and minerality, with a broad, silky, structured and persistent palate. The magnum format reinforces its ageing potential, balance and collector character.
Terroir: Clos de Vougeot, history, depth and Burgundian structure
Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy’s most emblematic Grands Crus. Its vast historic clos presents a mosaic of clay-limestone soils, marls and more stony zones, producing wines that can combine depth, structure, aromatic complexity and great persistence. The terroir often brings an earthy, spicy and architectural dimension to Pinot Noir.
At Château de la Tour, the Vieilles Vignes cuvée expresses a particularly dense and noble version of Clos de Vougeot. Old vines bring concentration, depth and texture, while the 2017 vintage preserves freshness, elegance and aromatic clarity. The whole offers balance between contained power, tannic refinement and a long mineral finish.

Expression of the 2017 vintage
The 2017 vintage in Burgundy produced red wines that are elegant, fresh, accessible and often highly expressive from an early stage. Less concentrated than very solar vintages, it favours fruit finesse, supple tannins and aromatic precision. In the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, this year offers a clear, balanced and refined reading of terroirs.
Today, this Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 2017 in magnum remains young but can already be seductive after measured aeration. It will gradually gain forest floor, fine leather, truffle, black tea, cocoa, melted spices, noble earth and mineral nuances, while preserving fruit purity and the noble structure of old vines.
In summary: a deep, structured and refined Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 2017 in magnum, driven by the finesse of the vintage, the controlled power of old vines and the historic signature of Château de la Tour.
