Barolo Bussia Riserva Granbussia 2010 — Aldo Conterno
This Barolo Bussia Riserva Granbussia 2010 from Aldo Conterno, offered here in a 1-bottle case, stands among the rarest and most sought-after expressions of Piedmontese Nebbiolo. In truly exceptional years, when every condition is perfectly aligned, the Riserva Granbussia is born — a cuvée produced only two or three times per decade.
Terroir: Bussia, the classical grandeur of Barolo
The Bussia area, in Monforte d’Alba, is one of Barolo’s great historic terroirs. Here, Nebbiolo produces deep wines, often austere in their youth, with a firm tannic frame, remarkable persistence and aromatic complexity that slowly unfolds with time.
The 2010 vintage is distinguished by its precision, freshness and outstanding ageing potential. In this Riserva Granbussia, it gives a wine of great architecture, still youthful in expression, yet already impressive for its fruit purity, floral finesse and structural depth.
Tasting notes
Appearance: luminous garnet with emerging brick reflections, deep, brilliant and still full of energy.
Nose: noble and complex, with black cherry, morello cherry, dried rose, violet, fine spices, liquorice, blond tobacco and fine leather. With aeration, nuances of truffle, undergrowth, noble earth and dried herbs begin to emerge.
Palate: upright, deep and masterfully structured, with firm yet highly noble tannins. The fruit remains precise, freshness carries the wine, and the finish lingers on spices, liquorice, fine earth and the unmistakable classicism of a great age-worthy Barolo.
Fruit: black cherry, morello cherry, red plum, ripe small red berries.
Flowers and spices: dried rose, violet, fine spices, liquorice, blond tobacco.
Terroir: fine leather, truffle, undergrowth, noble earth, dried herbs, deep tannins and a long mineral finish.
In summary: a Barolo Bussia Riserva Granbussia 2010 of rare nobility, born from a cuvée produced only in exceptional years, combining the depth of Nebbiolo, the classical power of Bussia and the remarkable balance of a great ageing vintage.
