Andremily Wines – Author-Driven Syrah at the Pinnacle of the Central Coast

Jim Binns’ personal vision — where California richness meets coastal precision

Founded in 2012 by Jim Binns, a gifted craftsman shaped by more than a decade at Sine Qua Non, Andremily Wines has rapidly become one of the most coveted and limited-production estates in California. Conceived as a deeply personal project, crafted in tiny quantities with uncompromising precision, Andremily embodies a vision: a Syrah sculpted with depth, tension, energy, and an unmistakable sense of identity, blending California’s generous fruit with the verticality and refinement of its best coastal terroirs.

Sourced from high-altitude and maritime-influenced sites across the Central Coast, the wines have, in only a few vintages, established Andremily as one of the leading voices of American Syrah.

Terroir & Origins – The Power of California’s Coastal Hillsides

Andremily sources its fruit from a selection of exceptional cool-climate sites across the Central Coast, including:

  • Ballard Canyon
  • Cat Canyon / White Hawk Vineyard
  • Edna Valley – Slide Hill Vineyard
  • Santa Barbara County (selected coastal parcels)

These vineyards combine:

  • poor, low-vigor soils (sand, schist, decomposed granite),
  • constant maritime winds,
  • direct ocean influence,
  • long, slow, balanced ripening,
  • wide diurnal shifts.

The result is Syrah of remarkable aromatic intensity, marked by concentration yet lifted by natural freshness and structural tension.

Philosophy & Winemaking – Handcrafted High Couture

Jim Binns creates author-driven wines, shaped with meticulous attention to detail:

  • careful hand-harvesting,
  • manual and optical sorting,
  • gentle, measured extraction,
  • fermentations in concrete, stainless steel, or wood,
  • extended ageing (22–28 months) in French oak (60–70% new),
  • precise blending, sometimes with Mourvèdre or Viognier,
  • ultra-limited production, conceived as micro-batch craftsmanship.

The approach, rooted in the Sine Qua Non tradition, favors controlled density, silkiness of texture, and meticulously defined aromatics, always avoiding excess or heaviness.

Wine Style – Power, Freshness & Deep Expression

Andremily wines are defined by a distinctive signature:

  • deep, dark concentration,
  • velvety tannins,
  • expansive aromatics (blackberry, violet, black olive, graphite, spice),
  • rare structural freshness,
  • energy and length,
  • long ageing potential (15–25 years).

Andremily’s Syrah combines California’s sun-ripened richness with a mineral verticality reminiscent of the Northern Rhône. The result is a style both immediate and ageworthy, with a striking emotional impact.

Signature Cuvées

  • Andremily Syrah
The flagship wine: dark, expansive, profoundly structured, with remarkable tension. One of the most compelling expressions of contemporary Californian Syrah.
  • EABA (End All Be All)
A bold blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Viognier. Complex, energetic, intense — produced in minuscule quantities and highly sought-after.
  • Mourvèdre
A rare expression of the grape in the Central Coast: deep, structured, pure.
  • Grenache
A recent cuvée already acclaimed as one of California’s most elegant, aerial expressions of Grenache.
  • Micro-Lot & Limited Releases
Site-specific cuvées produced occasionally in tiny lots — available exclusively to mailing-list members.

Conclusion – A Benchmark for California Syrah

Andremily Wines stands today as one of the pinnacles of Californian Syrah — dense, refined, meticulously crafted. With Jim Binns’ expertise, a rigorous selection of terroirs, and a fiercely artisanal approach, the estate has become a Central Coast reference and a cult name among collectors. Rare, deeply expressive and built with exceptional precision, Andremily represents the modern, ambitious face of high-end Syrah in the United States.
