Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux — A Quiet Revolution
Founded in 1858, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux today spans 14 to 14.5 hectares around Vosne-Romanée. Inherited through the Arnoux and Lachaux families, the domaine underwent a major turning point in 2012 when Charles Lachaux joined his mother Florence Lachaux. In just a few vintages, Charles propelled the estate to the top tier of the Côte de Nuits, now counted among the most sought-after domaines in the world.
Total Biodynamics & Pioneering Practices
Since 2012, a certified biodynamic approach has been applied with impressive precision:
- Very high trellising
- Goblet pruning on Pinot Noir
- No hedging of shoots
- No tilling of the soil
- Permanent cover cropping
- Eco-grazing & high biodiversity
The goal: an autonomous, balanced vine, with slow and complete ripening. This results in wines with lower alcohol levels yet extraordinary aromatic intensity.
Gentle Vinification & Reimagined Aging
- 100% whole-cluster fermentation
- Short macerations, infusion-style extractions, gravity-fed work
- Barrel aging until 2021 (10–30% new oak depending on the cru)
- Since 2022: gradual adoption of stoneware jars, reinforcing fruit purity and minerality with no discernible oak influence
Wine Style
- Airy, infused textures
- Astonishing purity of fruit
- Silky, seamless tannins
- Vibrant salinity, echoing the limestone-rich soils of Vosne & Nuits
Wines that are immediately charming yet possess remarkable aging potential.
