Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils — Meursault heritage, precision and purity in the Côte de Beaune
Seven generations of craftsmanship in Meursault, mastering Chardonnay on its greatest terroirs through long ageing on lees and a style of remarkable finesse
The estate
Established over seven generations in Meursault, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils ranks among the benchmark names of the Côte de Beaune. At the helm since 1999, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau continues the family’s meticulous interpretation of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, building on the legacy of his father, Michel. The domaine cultivates outstanding parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune and Pommard, following a respectful approach inspired by organic and biodynamic principles.
Terroir & vineyard
The domaine’s vines are rooted in the region’s emblematic clay-limestone soils rich in active limestone, the hallmark of the finest sites of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Controlled grass cover, light tilling and careful canopy management ensure healthy, balanced grapes with optimal ripeness. The entire vineyard is farmed with a reasoned, environmentally respectful philosophy.
Philosophy & winemaking
Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, followed by fermentations led mainly by indigenous yeasts, in vats or barrels depending on the cuvée. The wines undergo a long maturation on lees, typically 12 to 18 months, in oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood. Bottling is usually done without fining or filtration, with measured use of sulphur, and key cellar operations are guided by the lunar calendar.
Style of the wines
The wines of Domaine Michel Bouzereau are defined by aromatic purity, silky precision and natural depth—hallmarks of Meursault at its finest. The whites display notes of white flowers, citrus, stone fruit, a marked mineral tension and a subtle saline edge. The reds express cherry, fresh red berries, gentle spice and a refined earthy touch. Across the range, the wines show vibrant freshness, clarity of expression and excellent ageing potential.
