Domaine Grand Veneur – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A Jaume family heritage since 1826 • The noble power of the Southern Rhône’s greatest terroirs

Founded in 1826, Domaine Grand Veneur embodies over two centuries of tradition, transmission and precision in the world of the Southern Rhône’s great wines. Today led by Christophe and Sébastien Jaume, the estate stands as one of the most consistent, ambitious and respected signatures of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The family follows a clear philosophy: absolute respect for terroir, meticulous parcel selection and a bright, deep and uncompromising style. With nearly 80 hectares under vine, the estate boasts one of the Southern Rhône’s most complete and diversified vineyard holdings.

Terroirs & Geology – The majestic mosaic of the Southern Rhône

The estate rests on an exceptional geological diversity that forms the backbone of its stylistic identity:

  • Rolled pebbles over red clay – power, warmth, amplitude.
  • Wind-blown sands – aromatic finesse, silky tannins.
  • Fractured limestone – tension, vertical minerality.
  • White clays – depth, density, richness.
  • Gravel terraces & limestone scree (Lirac) – structure, freshness, controlled solar expression.

Each plot is vinified separately, allowing for a pure reading of place — a rare signature in this part of the Rhône.

Viticulture – Precision, rigor and environmental awareness

The Jaume family applies a demanding agricultural approach:

  • sustainable viticulture with many parcels certified organic,
  • strictly limited yields,
  • 100% manual harvesting,
  • high-precision parcel selection,
  • preservation of soils and biodiversity,
  • work adapted to the maturity of each vintage.

This approach shapes wines of controlled power, never heavy, always balanced by the natural freshness of the terroirs.

Winemaking & Ageing – Between Rhône tradition and modern precision

Winemaking at Grand Veneur combines traditional Rhône know-how with exacting technical mastery:

  • full destemming,
  • fermentations in stainless steel or concrete tanks,
  • gentle punch-downs and measured extraction,
  • fermentations controlled by grape variety,
  • assemblies crafted through successive, precise adjustments.

Ageing takes place in a range of vessels: foudres, demi-muids, barriques or inert large vats. The goal is constant: refine without masking.

House Style – Mediterranean force & refined structure

The wines of Domaine Grand Veneur are immediately recognisable:

  • dense, velvety texture,
  • black fruit (blackberry, blueberry), warm garrigue & white pepper,
  • noble, polished tannins,
  • mineral energy, length and freshness,
  • generous aromatics, always precise and straight.

The whites — confidential in quantity — display a luminous profile: salinity, tension, floral finesse.
