Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros & François Parent — Family Elegance at the Heart of Burgundy

Domaine Anne-Françoise Gros & François Parent brings together two great Burgundian families: the Gros family, deeply rooted in Vosne-Romanée, and the Parent family, long established in Pommard. This alliance has created a rare signature between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, where family heritage meets a precise and contemporary approach to wine.

Since the domaine was created in 1988, Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent have built a style based on finesse, fruit purity and a careful reading of terroir. The new generation, with Caroline and Mathias Parent, continues this path with wines that are luminous, refined, expressive and deeply attached to the diversity of Burgundy’s great climats.

The spirit of the domaine

A Burgundy of precision, pure fruit and controlled elegance. The domaine seeks fine, expressive and balanced wines, where the ripeness of Pinot Noir remains carried by freshness, delicate tannins and a clear expression of terroir. The style favours aromatic clarity, silky texture and length rather than demonstrative power.

History: the union of two Burgundian families

The domaine was founded in 1988 through the union of Anne-Françoise Gros, from one of the best-known families of Vosne-Romanée, and François Parent, heir to a long winegrowing tradition in Pommard. This dual origin gives the domaine a singular identity, combining the finesse of Vosne-Romanée with the structure of Pommard.

The estate has gradually established itself as an important signature of the Côte d’Or, with parcels spread across prestigious terroirs. This diversity allows the domaine to express several faces of Burgundian Pinot Noir: the sensuality of Vosne-Romanée, the depth of Pommard, the delicacy of Chambolle-Musigny and the structure of the Grands Crus.

Today, Caroline and Mathias Parent actively contribute to the domaine’s continuity. Their work brings a new, more contemporary energy while preserving the family’s exacting standards: respect for terroir, precise vinification, measured ageing and a constant search for balance.

Terroir: between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune

The domaine works around 10 hectares, spread across several major villages and climats of the Côte d’Or. Its holdings include prestigious appellations, from regional and village wines to some of Burgundy’s most sought-after Premiers Crus and Grands Crus.

In the Côte de Nuits, the terroirs of Vosne-Romanée, Échezeaux, Clos de Vougeot and Richebourg bring sensuality, spice and depth to Pinot Noir. These climats are renowned for producing wines of great complexity, combining dark fruit, flowers, fine spices and refined texture.

In the Côte de Beaune, the terroirs of Pommard, notably Les Rugiens and Les Épenots, offer more structure, straightness and density. Other parcels in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Chambolle-Musigny and the Hautes-Côtes complete this heritage and provide a broad reading of contemporary Burgundy.

Expression of place: Vosne-Romanée, Pommard, Chambolle-Musigny, Richebourg, Échezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Pinot Noir, red fruits, dark fruits, flowers, fine spices and silky texture.

Anne-Françoise Gros & François Parent signature: elegant, precise and expressive wines, with pure fruit, polished tannins, fine freshness and a refined reading of Burgundian climats.

Viticulture and vinification: precision of gesture and careful ageing

Viticulture is based on close observation of the soils, rigorous vineyard work and hand harvesting. Each climat is approached according to its own balance, with particular attention paid to grape ripeness, tannin quality and the preservation of natural freshness.

In the cellar, Mathias Parent continues a precise and measured approach. Vinification seeks to preserve fruit purity and fine textures, with macerations adapted to each cuvée and carefully calibrated ageing in oak barrels. Oak supports the wines without dominating them, allowing the personality of each terroir to remain clear.

Wine style

The wines of the domaine are defined by clean fruit, floral and spicy aromatics, and a silky texture. Pinot Noir expresses notes of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, violet, rose, peony, liquorice, sweet spices and sometimes forest floor with age.

On the palate, the cuvées combine elegance and depth, with chiselled tannins, fine freshness and refined length. Village wines and Premiers Crus often become accessible after a few years in bottle, while the Grands Crus offer greater ageing potential.

Emblematic cuvées

Richebourg Grand Cru: a rare and prestigious cuvée, offering depth, intensity, noble spices, majestic texture and great ageing capacity.

Échezeaux Grand Cru: an expressive and refined wine, marked by ripe fruit, flowers, fine spices and an ample yet elegant palate.

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru: a structured, deep and historic cuvée, combining density, dark fruits, earthy notes and fine length.

Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens: one of the great expressions of Pommard, powerful, taut and long-built, with a strong terroir personality.

Pommard Premier Cru Les Épenots: a more silky and refined wine, combining structure, elegant texture and aromatic depth.

Vosne-Romanée: an elegant village cuvée driven by sweet spices, flowers and the tactile finesse of Pinot Noir.

Chambolle-Musigny, Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Hautes-Côtes: complementary cuvées that explore the nuances of the house style, between delicacy, energy and fruit purity.

Ageing and gastronomic pairings

The domaine’s Grands Crus can evolve for 15 to 30 years, depending on vintage, cuvée and storage conditions. The Pommard Premiers Crus gain complexity after several years, while the village and regional cuvées offer a more immediate expression of the domaine’s style.

At the table, these wines pair beautifully with roast poultry, duck, veal, slow-cooked beef, feathered game, mushrooms, truffle, red wine sauces, traditional Burgundian cuisine and mature cheeses. The Grands Crus are best served with dishes that are deep yet refined enough to respect their finesse.
