High-altitude terroir, Catalan elegance, and precise winemaking

Nestled at over 600 m altitude in the steep mountains of Priorat, Clos Figueras is a benchmark among the estates of this prestigious appellation. Founded by a Franco-Spanish family in 1998, the estate spans 12 hectares of schist terraces, facing northwest, where each plot is worked with a respectful approach to the soil and low yields.

Terroir & grape varieties

The vines aged 20 to 60 years rest on the famous llicorella (red and gray schist), offering a salty mineral expression and rare freshness. The grape composition is dominated by Garnacha (≈50%), Cariñena (≈40%), complemented by Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Picapoll noir to bring complexity and structure.

Viticulture & winemaking

Sustainable viticulture, very low yields, 100% manual harvesting. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and demi-muids, long maceration with controlled extraction. Careful aging of 14 to 18 months, mostly in used demi-muids, to preserve the purity of the fruit and highlight the terroir's signature.

Style & aging potential

The wine is characterized by an unexpected finesse in Priorat: notes of fresh black fruits, spices, graphite, garrigue, supported by a saline elegance and fine tannins. The texture is dense yet structured, with remarkable freshness for the region. Aging potential: 10 to 20 years, with a beautiful development from 5 to 7 years.

Iconic cuvées

  • Clos Figueras: the signature parcel wine, concentrated, balanced, reflecting the terroir.

  • Clos Figueras Monistrol: selection of older vines, more ample, with spicy depth.

  • Figueras Blanc: rare white from the estate, refreshing, mineral, and expressive (Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Pedro Ximénez).
