Ancient history, gravelly expression and fruity elegance
Historic estate of 32 ha located in Blaignan, Ordonnac, and Prignac in the Médoc, around a 13th-century castle. Today managed by Magali Guyon within the Domaines CGR group, Château Ramafort is praised for its convivial, structured, and balanced wines.
Plots on Günzian gravel, clay-limestone, and hard limestone, promoting mineral freshness. Typical blend: ≈67% Merlot, ≈33% Cabernet Sauvignon, planted at high density to gain concentration and harmony.
Cultivation according to the Terra Vitis charter since 2006, with controlled grass cover, manual harvesting, and strict sorting. Biodiversity enhanced by hedges, flower strips, and careful soil management.
Parcel vinification by grape variety in stainless steel or concrete vats, with macerations of 3 to 4 weeks. Aging for 14 to 18 months in new barrels (≈40%), sometimes complemented by small vats to preserve freshness and structure.
Château Ramafort (Grand Vin): deep ruby color, expressive nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, fine herbs, and toasted notes. Supple, fruity palate, elegant tannins, saline, balanced, and persistent finish. Aging potential: 10 to 15 years.
