Paolo Scavino — Great Barolo Wines of Precision and Emotion
A cult Barolo estate, combining aromatic purity, fine tannins and mineral depth — a benchmark for the region’s most prestigious crus.
An Icon of Castiglione Falletto Since 1921
Founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto, at the heart of the Barolo appellation, Paolo Scavino is one of Piedmont’s most renowned estates. Today, it is run by Enrica and Elisa Scavino, the fourth generation, who continue the legacy of Enrico Scavino, a visionary figure of modern Barolo who passed away in 2024. Their philosophy is based on rigorous single-vineyard vinification, balance, and the expression of outstanding terroirs across eight communes.
An Exceptional Viticultural Heritage
The estate covers 30 hectares exclusively within the Barolo appellation, spread across Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Verduno, Monforte d’Alba, Roddi, and Serralunga d’Alba. Twenty historic crus form this extraordinary patrimony, offering a uniquely precise interpretation of the terroirs.
Major Crus
- Bric dël Fiasc (Castiglione Falletto) — iconic power and elegance.
- Cannubi (Barolo) — nobility and perfect balance.
- Monvigliero (Verduno) — floral delicacy and saline length.
- Ravera (Novello) — structure and age-worthy character.
- Rocche dell’Annunziata Riserva (La Morra) — pinnacle of finesse and complexity.
- Bricco Ambrogio (Roddi) — ample aromatics and immediate charm.
Viticulture — Precision and Respect for the Terroir
The estate practices meticulous, high-precision viticulture:
- parcel-by-parcel vineyard management,
- manual harvesting,
- strict yield control,
- severe selection (up to 30% discarded depending on the vintage).
Fermentations rely on native yeasts, followed by ageing in large traditional casks and carefully measured barrels, preserving fruit purity and terroir transparency.
