Champagne Deutz – Timeless Elegance in Aÿ
A House Founded in 1838
William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, originally from Aachen, founded the House in Aÿ. From the 19th century onwards, their export-driven vision quickly won over Great Britain, Russia, and Germany.
A Solid Champagne Heritage
Acquired in 1993 by the Rouzaud family (Louis Roederer), the House has benefited from significant investments: cellar renovations, quality reinforcement, and strengthened control of vineyard sourcing.
Terroirs and Sourcing
With around 45 ha of its own vineyards (Grand Cru and Premier Cru), complemented by several hundred hectares through long-standing partnerships, Deutz relies on prestigious crus: Aÿ, Côte des Blancs, Verzenay, Mailly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger…
Winemaking and House Style
Blends are based on a high share of noble crus. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at low temperature, followed by long ageing in chalk cellars (down to 65 m underground). No new oak is used, preserving a signature of great purity, with elegant minerality and exceptionally fine bubbles.
