Elio Grasso – Timeless Elegance of Barolo
Monforte d’Alba, Piedmont

Based in Monforte d’Alba, at the heart of Barolo’s rolling hills, the Elio Grasso estate has embodied the meeting point of Piedmontese tradition and artisanal precision since the late 1970s. In 1978, the Grasso family chose a return to the land to celebrate Monforte’s great terroirs, crafting estate-only wines with a clear, enduring vision.

Estate Overview

The vineyard spans about 18 hectares of carefully tended slopes, anchored by the renowned crus of Gavarini and Ginestra, among Barolo’s most celebrated sites.

Philosophy & Vineyard

A parcel-driven, family approach guides the estate: each plot is vinified separately to preserve the pure aromatic signatures of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera. Maturation alternates between large botti and barriques, depending on the cuvée, with the goal of safeguarding natural structure and depth.

Wine Style

Classically styled Barolos with luminous clarity and a firm sense of place in Monforte d’Alba:

  • Nose: morello cherry, dried rose petals, tobacco, forest floor, licorice
  • Palate: poised balance, noble tannins, mineral freshness
  • Finish: long, precise, well-structured — excellent cellaring potential

Signature Wines

  • Barolo Ginestra Casa Matè — Volume, intensity, depth; a Barolo of grand scale.
  • Barolo Gavarini Chiniera — Airy refinement, minerality, freshness.
  • Langhe Nebbiolo — Aromatic brightness, expressive and approachable in youth.
  • Dolcetto d’Alba & Barbera d’Alba — Immediate pleasure, charming and fruit-forward.
  • Chardonnay “Educato” — A refined, discreet white.
