Domaine Leroy – Iconic Grands Crus through a Singular Biodynamic Vision
Côte de Nuits & Côte de Beaune • Burgundy — Estate founded by Lalou Bize-Leroy • ~21–23 ha • Fully biodynamic since 1988
Identity & Philosophy
Created by Lalou Bize-Leroy (also founder of Domaine d’Auvenay), Domaine Leroy stands as one of Burgundy’s most revered names. The vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 1988, with extremely low yields (around 15 hl/ha), strict selection and an unwavering quest for purity of fruit and terroir.
Vineyard & Farming
- Vineyard holdings of approximately 21–23 hectares, including numerous Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.
- Biodynamic farming with meticulous soil work, vibrant microbiological life, and zero synthetic inputs.
- Hand harvesting only with extremely strict berry selection.
Winemaking & Aging
- Fermentations with indigenous yeasts, partial or full destemming depending on the vintage.
- Aging in 100 % new oak barrels (mainly François Frères), for 16–24 months, bottled without fining or filtration.
- Objective: a crystal-clear expression of terroir, with power, precision, and energy.
House Style
- Pinot Noirs of great intensity, extremely fine tannins, mineral backbone and deep aromatic complexity.
- Pure and precise expressions of terroir, combining energy, structure and finesse.
- Exceptional aging potential across the entire range.
