Terroir & Philosophy

Sassicaia, produced by Tenuta San Guido on the Tuscan coast, was born from the estate’s stony and gravelly soils, which inspired its name. Shaped by maritime influence and a rigorous philosophy of vineyard selection, it has become one of Italy’s most iconic wines.

The 2020 vintage is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for more than 25 months in French oak barriques, using a measured proportion of new oak, before final blending and further bottle refinement.

In this vintage, Sassicaia shows a particularly harmonious profile, combining ripe fruit, freshness, and refined structure. It offers a more open and seductive expression of the estate’s style, while fully preserving its nobility and ageing potential.

Nose:
Elegant and complex, revealing aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and red fruit, alongside notes of cedar, sweet tobacco, Mediterranean herbs, and a subtle balsamic touch.
