Located in the appellation of the same name, Château Margaux was classified as a 1st Grand Cru Classé in 1855 in recognition of their long winemaking tradition and level of excellence. Today, it has lost none of its splendor.
The vineyard covers 87 hectares reserved for red wines, with an annual production of around 200,000 bottles. The grape composition is classic with Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot (5%). 12 hectares are planted with Sauvignon Blanc intended for the white wine "Pavillon Blanc" of Margaux.
The estate also produces a second wine, the "Pavillon Rouge" of Château Margaux, as well as a white wine called "Pavillon Blanc," which cannot claim the Margaux appellation, restricted to red wines.
