Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018 — Spottswoode Estate
This Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018 from Spottswoode Estate embodies one of the most refined, profound and harmonious expressions of St. Helena. From Spottswoode’s historic estate vineyard, it combines Napa Valley’s precise ripeness with remarkable freshness: cassis, blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, plum, violet, cedar, graphite, tobacco, cocoa, fresh mint, liquorice, fine earth and a long mineral finish.
Spottswoode Estate is one of Napa Valley’s great family estates, renowned for producing Cabernets of great purity, refinement, balance and long ageing potential. The 2018 vintage is particularly elegant, with a long and even growing season that encouraged slow ripening, great aromatic precision and tannins of remarkable finesse. The wine stands out for its balance between density, freshness, fruit brightness and classical depth.
A great Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with a pure, noble and highly balanced profile, where the depth of black fruit remains carried by freshness, precision and tannic finesse. The 2018 combines cassis, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, cocoa, tobacco and mentholated freshness, with a broad, silky, structured and highly persistent palate. This is a Spottswoode of great class, built for slow and harmonious evolution.
Terroir: St. Helena, a historic vineyard and Napa Valley elegance
The Spottswoode Estate vineyard is located in St. Helena, at the heart of Napa Valley. This sector benefits from an ideal climate for Cabernet Sauvignon, with bright days, complete ripeness and the ability to preserve enough freshness to maintain balance. The estate’s well-draining soils and meticulous viticulture encourage fruit that is concentrated, pure and expressive.
The Spottswoode style is based on an elegant interpretation of Cabernet Sauvignon: precise black fruit, classical structure, polished tannins, floral and mineral notes, and measured integration of oak ageing. In the 2018, this terroir translates into a wine of great aromatic clarity, combining cassis, blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco, cocoa, fine earth and fresh mint.

Expression of the 2018 vintage
The 2018 vintage in Napa Valley is recognised for its balance, aromatic purity and tannic finesse. The long, even season allowed full ripeness without excess, giving wines that are concentrated, fresh and very well defined. At Spottswoode, this year particularly highlights Cabernet Sauvignon purity, floral elegance, mineral precision and the tactile quality of the tannins.
Today, this Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 remains young and has excellent ageing potential. It can already impress through its fruit brightness and balance after careful opening, but will gain further complexity with time: cedar, tobacco, fine leather, graphite, cocoa, forest floor, dried herbs, mint and more tertiary nuances should gradually join the depth of black fruit.
In summary: a deep, elegant and luminous Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, driven by the purity of the vintage, the precision of the estate and the classical depth of St. Helena.
Dominant aromas: cassis, blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, plum, violet, cedar, graphite, tobacco, cocoa, fresh mint, liquorice, fine earth, fine leather and a long mineral finish.
