Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 — Domaine Taupenot-Merme
This Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 from Domaine Taupenot-Merme embodies one of the deepest, most fleshy and most structured expressions of Gevrey-Chambertin. A historic Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits, close in identity to Charmes-Chambertin but often marked by a more earthy and firmer dimension, it offers a Pinot Noir of great density, at once powerful, perfumed and mineral: black cherry, Morello cherry, ripe raspberry, cassis, plum, faded rose, violet, fine spices, liquorice, noble earth, forest floor, fine leather, black tea and a long mineral finish.
Domaine Taupenot-Merme is renowned for precise, elegant wines that remain faithful to the terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, with an approach focused on fruit purity, balance and tannic finesse. Mazoyères-Chambertin is distinguished by a deeper, more structured and sometimes wilder expression than Charmes-Chambertin, while retaining great nobility of texture. The 2015 vintage brings ripeness, concentration, fruit richness and structure, with remarkable ageing potential.
A great Mazoyères-Chambertin of depth, density and character, where the richness of the 2015 vintage remains carried by terroir precision and the elegance of the Taupenot-Merme style. The wine combines ripe red and black fruits, faded flowers, spices, liquorice, noble earth, forest floor and minerality, with a broad, silky, structured and persistent palate. It is a Grand Cru of controlled power, texture and long ageing potential.
Terroir: Mazoyères-Chambertin, depth and power of Gevrey-Chambertin
The Mazoyères-Chambertin climat is one of the historic Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. Its clay-limestone soils, marls and stony elements give Pinot Noir an expression that is dense, structured and profoundly mineral. The cru is renowned for its earthy character, contained power, dark fruit and great ageing capacity.
At Domaine Taupenot-Merme, Mazoyères-Chambertin translates into a wine of great presence, at once fleshy, precise and deep. The terroir brings a noble tannic frame, aromatic richness and a persistent finish. In 2015, the ripeness of the vintage reinforces density, fruit depth and texture, while the natural structure of the cru preserves tension, balance and clarity of the climat.

Expression of the 2015 vintage
The 2015 vintage in Burgundy produced ripe, concentrated, generous and structured red wines, with great fruit richness and often profound substance. In the great terroirs of Gevrey-Chambertin, this year highlights the density of Pinot Noir, tannin ripeness, aromatic depth and the ageing capacity of the grands crus.
Today, this Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 remains relatively young in its evolution, but it is beginning to reveal fine complexity after measured aeration. With time, it should gain forest floor, fine leather, truffle, black tea, cocoa, melted spices, noble earth and mineral nuances, while preserving the depth of ripe red and black fruit typical of the vintage.
In summary: a deep, fleshy and structured Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015, driven by the richness of the vintage, the nobility of Gevrey-Chambertin and the elegant signature of Domaine Taupenot-Merme.
Dominant aromas: black cherry, Morello cherry, ripe raspberry, cassis, plum, faded rose, violet, fine spices, liquorice, noble earth, forest floor, fine leather, black tea, light truffle and a long mineral finish.
