Grange des Pères 2014 – Laurent Vaillé

A cult wine from the Languedoc, Grange des Pères 2014 stands out for its rare balance between Mediterranean depth, freshness, and finesse. In a more nuanced vintage, it reveals a particularly elegant and refined expression of the estate.

Terroir & Philosophy

Founded by Laurent Vaillé, La Grange des Pères is widely regarded as one of the most iconic estates of the Languedoc. The vineyards are located in the Arboussas massif, at an altitude of 250 to 300 metres, where conditions favour slow ripening and natural balance.

The blend is based on Syrah and Mourvèdre, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Counoise. In keeping with the estate’s philosophy, each parcel is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, followed by extended ageing in oak barrels for around 24 months, refining structure while preserving the wine’s identity.

The 2014 vintage, cooler and more balanced than the estate’s more powerful years, results in a wine of great precision. It offers a more restrained, finely structured and harmonious interpretation of Grange des Pères.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Complex and refined, revealing aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with notes of garrigue, spices, and a subtle smoky touch.

Palate:
Full and dense yet perfectly balanced, with a velvety texture and fine tannins. The wine shows depth without heaviness, supported by freshness that brings length and precision.

Finish:
Long, persistent, and nuanced, marked by dark fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and elegant spice. A fine ageing wine, already compelling for its harmony.
