"The superb dark ruby/purple-colored 1996 Chianti Classico Riserva was produced from extremely low yields (under 2 tons of fruit per acre). It offers a beautiful, black cherry and charcoal-scented nose, with spice, a touch of oak, notes of licorice and earth. Medium-bodied, with admirable purity, terrific symmetry, and a formidable finish, this exceptional Chianti can be drunk now as well as over the following 10-15 years."
