Domaine Agnès Paquet – The Contemporary Voice of the Côte de Beaune
Precision, purity and a terroir-driven identity at the heart of modern Burgundy
Domaine Agnès Paquet embodies the rare ascent of a self-taught winemaker who has become one of the most distinctive and authentic voices of the Côte de Beaune. When Agnès unexpectedly took over her family parcel in Auxey-Duresses in 2000, she produced her first vintage in 2001 — the beginning of a remarkable trajectory.
In just over twenty years, she has built a now fully organic estate covering almost 13 hectares, acclaimed for the radiance of its whites, the finesse of its reds, and its modern, pure and sensitive interpretation of Burgundian terroirs. Her vision: an artisanal Burgundy defined by transparency, precision and honesty.
Terroirs – A limestone-marl mosaic of remarkable geological purity
The domaine spreads across a wide mosaic of sites at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, where geological complexity meets the strong identity of each climat.
Key appellations & distinctive sites
- Auxey-Duresses — the historic core of the estate, including nearly 5 ha in the emblematic Les Hoz climat, the stylistic backbone of the domaine.
- Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Les Perrières” — altitude, tension, mineral verticality.
- Chassagne-Montrachet — contained power, aromatic depth, noble density.
- Pommard “Les Combes” — ample, structured Pinot Noir.
- Bourgogne Chardonnay, Aligoté and Hautes-Côtes — pure, precise, elegant expressions.
The soils combine white limestone, Jurassic marls, stony scree and deeper mineral layers. Some vines are 80 to 90 years old, reinforcing the natural depth and concentration.
Viticulture & Philosophy – Living soils, precision and transparency
Since 2004, the domaine has operated with zero herbicides and fully completed its organic certification in 2022. The approach centres on a fine-grained understanding of each parcel and a respect for plant integrity.
Key principles:
- soil cultivation and mechanical vineyard work,
- 100% manual harvesting,
- careful sorting at the parcel,
- modest yields,
- harvesting at optimal — never excessive — maturity.
Agnès Paquet champions a meticulous, fully artisanal approach: minimal intervention, maximum precision, and an uncompromising terroir-first philosophy.
Winemaking & Aging – Purity of fruit and finesse of texture
Winemaking follows a clear guiding line: minimal intervention, heightened attention, and a desire to preserve the natural equilibrium of each vintage.
For the reds:
- spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts,
- short, gentle macerations in concrete tanks,
- 11–18 months aging with 15–30% new oak depending on the cuvée,
- no filtration and very low SO₂ at bottling.
For the whites:
- gentle pressing,
- indigenous-yeast fermentation,
- moderate use of new oak,
- no bâtonnage, preserving tension and mineral vibrancy.
The overarching signature: energy, clarity, precision and a transparent reading of each site.
Style – Mineral tension, freshness & Burgundian elegance
Agnès Paquet’s wines are now among the clearest and most contemporary expressions of the Côte de Beaune’s terroirs.
White wines:
- natural saline tension,
- crystalline purity,
- silky yet energetic textures,
- aerial, fine, mineral length.
Red wines:
- pure, vibrant red fruit,
- soft, elegant tannins,
- slender structure with no heaviness,
- a freshness anchored in limestone soils.
