Cantina Kopp von der Crone Visini — Ticino
A lasting taste of Ticino
Located in Barbengo, south of Lugano, Cantina Kopp von der Crone Visini was born in 2006 from the merger of two iconic wineries: Cantina Kopp von der Crone (founded in 1994 by Ueli Kopp and Anna-Barbara von der Crone) and Vini Visini (founded in 1997 by Paolo Visini). This harmonious union between tradition and modernity has led to a meticulous parcel-based approach that has elevated the estate to a benchmark in Ticino.
A 7-hectare vineyard across three distinctive terroirs
The estate cultivates about 7 hectares of vines spread across three key subregions of Ticino:
- Mendrisiotto (South) — warm, sunny microclimate.
- Luganese (Lugano region) — diverse soils and exposures.
- Bellinzonese (North) — strong Alpine influences.
Each parcel is vinified separately, ensuring the unique character of every terroir is preserved.
Grape varieties — Merlot as a guiding thread
Merlot (≈ 70%) forms the backbone of the estate’s production, complemented by Arinarnoa, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc for added structure and complexity.
White varieties — Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, and Viognier — contribute to elegant, expressive, and balanced white wines.
Sustainable viticulture
The estate vinifies exclusively its own grapes. Viticulture follows integrated production principles, promoting biodiversity and ecosystem protection. This sustainable philosophy translates into pure fruit expression and impressive ageing potential.
Signature cuvées
Balin — High-precision Merlot with long maceration and about 18 months of ageing in new and one-year-old barrels. Multiple award-winner at the Mondial du Merlot.
Irto — Powerful blend of Merlot, Arinarnoa, and Cabernet, aged for two years in barriques.
Vigoria — Juicy, approachable Merlot aged in 500–600 L barrels and older barriques.
Commitment and recognition
Since 2010, the estate has been a member of La Mémoire des Vins Suisses, a mark of excellence and recognition on both the national and international wine scene.
