Domaine Dugat-Py – The noble face of Gevrey-Chambertin

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Dugat-Py is a highly regarded family estate in the Côte de Nuits, farming around 15 hectares of vines almost entirely planted with Pinot Noir. The domaine has built a reputation for producing some of the most concentrated and distinctive wines of Gevrey, combining impressive power, purity of fruit and a vibrant sense of place.

The vineyards are rooted in classic clay-limestone soils with patches of red clay and limestone scree, on slopes facing mainly east to south-east. Low yields from old vines provide naturally dense, structured wines. The estate benefits from a fine selection of parcels across the Gevrey area, including prestigious sites that deliver profound, ageworthy expressions of Pinot Noir.

Viticulture is carried out with a strong respect for the living environment, including careful soil management, controlled grass cover and limited treatments. All grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously sorted. In the cellar, fermentations take place in small vats with long macerations and gentle extraction, followed by 16–20 months of ageing in oak barrels, with a high proportion of new oak for the top crus. The result is a style that is both powerful and finely sculpted.

Dugat-Py wines are known for their impressive density and depth, yet they retain freshness and definition. Aromas typically feature ripe black fruits, violet, spice and hints of truffle or forest floor. On the palate, they are firmly built with tightly knit but polished tannins and long, resonant finishes, giving them excellent cellaring potential in the best vintages.
