An emblematic name in Ticino Merlot

Address: Via Vignoo 3, 6850 Mendrisio
History — The vision of Guido Brivio
The modern story began in 1988, when Guido Brivio took over the Fratelli Valli estate after studying oenology in France. Coming from a family active in the spirits business (holder of the Cynar license in Switzerland), he shifted the company’s focus toward high-quality Ticino wines, placing Merlot at the center of his vision.
Production model
The estate follows a model of high-quality négociant production: grapes are purchased from a network of carefully selected Ticino growers, within the framework of a close partnership between Gialdi and Brivio. This approach highlights the best terroirs of the Sottoceneri while maintaining strict standards of vinification.
Grape varieties & style
Merlot is the undisputed signature of the house, crafted both as red wines and as Bianco di Merlot. The wines combine ripeness, density, and precise barrel ageing, resulting in elegant, concentrated wines with a silky texture.
Signature cuvées
Riflessi d’Epoca — Merlot DOC Ticino. A cornerstone cuvée, regularly awarded at the Mondial du Merlot. Fine structure and impressive depth.
Bianco Rovere — Barrel-aged Bianco di Merlot, broad and refined.
Rosato Rovere — A vibrant and elegant rosé expression of Merlot.
Vigna d’Antan, Platinum, Ronco Bain — Parcel selections and special cuvées produced according to vintage.
Quattromani — An iconic Ticino blend crafted in collaboration with Guido Brivio, Angelo Delea, Feliciano Gialdi and Claudio Tamborini. It represents the collective ambition of Ticino Merlot at its highest level.
